Biometric Testing

Jeff's work started last year by promoting healthy living. Last yeat they just wanted their employees to participate. I guess they didn't get as big as turn out as they did last year, because they have decided to include the spouses and to give away a cruise. What they are doing is that once a month they are going to have something that you can do i.e. count calories, exercise, biometric testing. If the employee does that item he gets so many points, if the spouse does it they get more points. If you collect enough points you get entered into a drawing for a cruise at the end of this. I love this idea mostly because it will help me with my goals to become a healthier individual and a free cruise where everything will be paid for including airfare.

So they started out the year with having people sign up to do a biometric test. This test tests your blood pressure, body weight, body Mass index, cholestrol, and gluclose. I was a little nervous as what my results would be going into this, because I have never had one of these test done and didn't know if I was going to be on the high side. Before this test you have to fast for 12 hours, which isn't so bad considering that we did the test at 9:15. I took the test and everything was normal. My glucose was under what is should have been and the medical person who gave me the results really liked that I had the excellent result with my good cholestrol. I was really happy with the results and it made me think that all the times that I don't put salt or try to eat better in the last couple of weeks has been paying off.

The only thing that was not in the normal range, was my BMI. It should be anywhere between 20-29, and mine is at 31. So I guess I still have some work cut out for me to be able to get into a healthier range of fat. But so far so good and I will continue to eat healty and get in some workouts so that I can keep being as healthy as I am and hopefully lose some weight. (Just so you know Jeff's wasn't as good as mine, but we are working on getting it to a better result)
