Another year has gone by and my oldest has now turned 7. He is having a lot of fun with school and with his friends and he surprises me every day with what he is learning. This year the saturday before his birthday we were in Logan for my nephew's baby blessing. So I made a cake before we left and we celebrated up there on Saturday. The picture below is of him blowing out his candles. Before we blew out the candles we went to Dallin's favorite restaurant, McDonalds, so that he could play on the playplace.
On Tuesday, which was actually Dallin's birthday, when Jeff got home he took Dallin to play games and I assembled his present. This year we wanted to do something a little different. We wanted to help Dallin develop one of his interests so that he could learn more about it. For the last couple of months, Dallin started watching the weather whenever the news came on and then he would tell us what the forecast was. He also loves to look at the thermonitor that is on our clock and lets everyone know how cold/hot it is outside. so I made him a way that he could write down the seven-day forecast and plot what the weather is doing.

When Dallin saw his gift he was excited and immediately wanted to fill out the forecast on his dry-erase board. Jeff pulled out his iphone, which has the weather on it and Dallin began. There are magnets with pictures of what kind of day it is suppose to be like and then he can write the highs and the lows on the days as well. We also gave him a map of the US so he can track what is happening all over the country and a map of Utah so he can just keep track of our state. I also found a board that had a couple of things that he could learn about the weather.

Dallin was really happy with his present and then we have a tradition of taking the birthday boy out to a restaurant of his choice. Luckily we went to McDonalds on Saturday so we didn't have to go there again, although it probably would have been cheaper. But we went to Applebees, where Dallin was able to enjoy a free ice cream, which he only ate the cream off of the top and I finished the rest. Also, the Saturday after his birthday we went to Lagoon, so he had a wonderful week doing a lot of things that he loved.
