Sometimes I hate technology

Technology can be wonderful and to tell you the truth I like it a lot most of the time, but when it fails I absolutely hate it and how attached I am to it. Let me tell you why.

Last week I was just getting done feeding Kaden and putting him to bed for the night when I saw movement out of the corner of my eye. I know from experience what it might be so I sat wide eyed for a while and sure enough a coupld of minutes later a mouse crept out from under the changing table. I immediately went and got Jeff and we went about tracking down the mice.

While Jeff was stalking the mouse it ran under my desk and when it got pulled out to get the mouse my external hard drive fell to the floor and broke. The fall broke the drive and lost all of the data on it. The worst part is that it had all of my files on it. A couple of months ago my laptop was acting up on it and so I took off all of my files and put them on the hard drive and then reinstalled windows. I thought that my files would be safer on the external hard drive instead of the laptop, so I never moved them back. Boy was I wrong.

So, I now face the facts that I have lost all of my digital photos (which is 10 to 11 years worth), my music, and all of the files that I have made that have to do with goals, finances and so forth. Lets just say that I was more than a little bummed. Jeff was wonderful and immediately said that we were going to pay to have some tech pull off all of the files. Well we got the quote today and though I want my files back it is not worth the $1585.00 that it would cost.

So today I am going to start the recovery process. I have already pulled off all of the photos that I put on here and I am going to go and pull off the photos that I have put on facebook. Good news people!!! It turns out that photoshop elements backed up my photos for me. I am beyond happy. Unfortunately, I didn't have it do it with all of the photos that I had taken (mainly the ones from this year and some from last year) but it saved a lot of them.

Oh, just so you know that mouse was caught and was killed by a very frustrated Jeff.

Welcome Kaden Ryker VanShaar!!!

Well the title says it all. We had our third baby boy. I was scheduled to have the baby on the 8th of Sept., but at my last doctor's appointment the baby measurements concerned my doctor, so we went into the ultrasound to see what was happening and it turned out there was not enough fluid around the baby. Since I was 38 weeks along that meant that I had to have the baby that day.

So I went from there to the women's center and after a little stress about who would be at home with my kids, and things that I needed to have at the hospital (Yes, I didn't have a bag packed, I was planning on doing that, I had a week) I had my baby. Kaden was born at 1:54 pm on August 31, he weighed 5 lbs 12 oz and was 18 inches long. He is small and really cute.

So here are just a few pictures that I have taken of him.
