Lagoon and Family Reunion

This year our family was all alone on our trip to Lagoon. Dallin was excited because he is finally tall enough that he could ride some of the roller coasters. Jeff and Dallin spent a lot of time off riding the roller coasters. But they would come back every once in awhile and Jeff and I would switch. We had a fun time there Kaden and I spent a lot of time watching Isaac, Jeff and Dallin ride the rides, but we had fun all the same.

This year my family decided to do a Howard Dee Stockdale reunion(my grandfather). It turned out that Dallin also had his first cub scout's activity so Jeff and Dallin stayed home and Isaac, Kaden and myself went up to Logan for the reunion. I didn't take a lot of pictures because I was busy taking care of Kaden, who had his first taste of pudding loved it by the way, playing volleyball, and playing games to take many pictures. The only ones I got was while we were waiting for the festivities to begin.

With all of the rain that we had this spring this is what the run of was doing at the end of June. It was really loud we couldn't hear each other talk.

Swimming and a movie

This year we put Dallin and Isaac into swimming lessons again. This year Dallin went into level 2 and Isaac went into level 1. I pick the first session and since spring was a wet and cold one, hardly anyone signed up so Dallin class only had two people and Isaac's had three. It was nice, because they got a lot of one on one time with their instructors. Dallin had fun because he was finally tall enough that he could touch the bottom of the pool with his head above the water. They had a lot of fun.

We went to our yearly trip to the drive-in theater. We choose to go a little early and this year the drive-in has been able to get the movies earlier so it was still a little cold outside, but we had fun. Here are some pictures

Kaden and I found other ways to entertain ourselves as we were left out of the fun.

Bowling!!!!

Well it has been awhile since I have blogged so I thought I would round out a few things that we have done this summer. The first thing is that we got a summer pass to our local bowling alley. There is a program that will let kids get 2 free bowling games a day from June 1st to August 31st. Then when we were at the bowling alley we were able to get a pass for shoe rentals so we only had to pay one fee for the whole summer. We also got a family pass, which allows Jeff and I to bowl with our kids. It has been wonderful to go this summer as a family to play bowling with out the wii.

Last Session of Swimming lessons!!!

Well at the end of July I signed the boys up for swimming lessons again. I thought that it would be nice to have them do the lessons again. Dallin was in the level 2 class and Isaac was still in the preschool class. They both had fun and didn't have any problem going to their classes.

This time Isaac had two different teachers and I thought that he would have a hard time in a much larger class, but he did great. In fact, he actually started to put his head under the water to do bobs and to also be on his back. It was fun to see him do so well.

Dallin started level 2 and he did as good as he could. The class was in deeper water and they had to swim without the help of the instructors and by the end of class, Dallin was almost able to do it. We need to work on it with him. We also need to have him build of his confidence that he knows what he has to do to keep himself a float in the water when he can't touch. During play time he spent most of his time at the edge of the pool going under the water until he touched the bottom.

All in all I think the boys did great and we will definetely put them into swimming lessons again next year. They will have fun and I will be able to just sit by the edge of the pool with Kaden and watch them.

Going Hiking

This year Jeff and I decided that to go hiking with our kids to hopefully keep them a little occupied. A couple of weeks ago we had our first adventure we took the kids up the Birdsong trail in Ogden. The trail is only a mile each way and has a little hill that was perfect for the kids. Both Dallin and Isaac had fun going on the trail and trying to see when the trail would end. This trail really just connects to roads together and gives you a wonderful view of Ogden. We also took both Lilly and Oscar. The dogs also had a wonderful time. Jeff had a hold of Lilly and I had a hold of Oscar. Lilly was really excited she loves to do anything in the outdoors and Oscar had fun as well, but I don't think as much as Lilly. On our trip back through the hike Jeff and I both let the kids have a turn of holding the dog's leashes. Dallin got to hold onto Lilly and Isaac got to hold onto Oscar. Lilly was okay with Dallin and the only problem there was that Lilly kept stopping to smell the bushes and then she would get tangled in the leash. Isaac on the other hand didn't know that he needed to make Oscar keep up to his pace. So for Isaac just ran along side Oscar for awhile until I took back the leash. Isaac still loved holding the leash though. Here is the one picture that I took when we were at the top of a little hill where you can see the view of Ogden.


This last weekend we went up to Logan to visit my parents and Jeff and I decided that we wanted to go on a little more difficult of a hike with out our kids. We decided to go on the Temple Fork Sawmill hike that we tried a couple of years ago with our kids and we ended up having to carry both of them out because it was a little too much for them. We invited some of my family to go with us. The only thing that we didn't want to happen was that we would have to carry out a kid that walked in like last time. This hike is only 3.2 miles out and back, but it is in the full sun for over half of the hike. We lucked out and it was overcast when we went so we had a little shade when we started the hike, but when we were going back to the car the clouds had gone so we had the sun. The last half is all hills. It was a nice hike and we all had fun. My sister Debra and her husband Andrew came with us with their son Austin to make a trial run for their backpacking trip that they took a couple days after this hike. Austin had a wonderful time looking at all of the scenery and trying to look at the river that we were walking by the whole time. The sawmill is the one that was used to get the wood for the Logan temple as well as some of the other buildings in Logan. It was nice to finish a hike that we hadn't a couple of years ago.

This is the sign that is at the top of the hike and shows what it looked like when the mill was working. The people that worked the mill stayed up there for while and they established their own little town.

This is the only thing left of the mill. Jeff thought that it looked like a pill of rocks that were placed there by a boyscout. He was a little disappointed with the ending of the hike, but he still had fun.

Here is the picture of everyone that went on the hike(minus me behind the camera). We all had fun and we were all exhausted when we got back to my parents house.
